Caligraphy Summary

THE ANCIENT ART OF CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY!

Materials Needed:

  • Calligraphy Brush
  • Calligraphy Paint or Paint Block (Used in formal writings)
  • Brush Mountain
  • Paper or Rice Paper (Optional)
  • Newspaper or Protection of Surface You Are Working On

Calligraphy is one of the most beautiful parts of the Chinese culture. The Chinese Calligraphy has spiritual concepts as well as the beautiful characters that calligraphy makes more elegant. Calligraphy has been around since the begining of time. It was used as communication as well as a meditating exersice.

There are many different types of Calligraphy. For instance, Running script, Cursive script, Standard script and many others. The picture above is an example of Formal or Regular script.

Techniques to Doing Calligraphy:

  • Make sure that you have everything set in front of you straight and in order.
  • Sit straight up.
  • Feet planted on the floor.
  • Make sure to move you whole hand, not just your wrist.
  • Hold calligraphy brush upstraight.
  • Channel all your spiritual energy in to your brush and on to the paper.
